Professor Pattarachai Kiratisin received an M.D. degree from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Rochester (New York, USA). This was followed by Postdoctoral Fellowships in Molecular Genetics from Stanford University (California, USA) and in Clinical Microbiology from the National Institutes of Health (Maryland, USA), and a Diploma of Clinical Pathology from the Thai Medical Council. He was a recipient of the Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Young Investigator Award from the American Society for Microbiology and American Academy of Microbiology. Prof. Kiratisin published over 100 research articles and textbook chapters in the area of diagnostic microbiology, antimicrobial resistance and epidemiology of drug-resistant bacteria.

 

Prof. Kiratisin was appointed to be Distinguished Professor of Microbiology and Chairman of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University. He also served as the Director of the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management for technology licensing and intellectual property management. Currently, Prof. Kiratisin is appointed as Vice President for Research at Mahidol University.
